Astro Boy Vol. 1 & Vol.2

Astro Boy representa a grande viragem da BD japonesa para aquilo que conhecemos hoje como Manga. A sua primeira aventura remonta a 1951. O grande precursor deste tipo de BD foi Osamu Tezuka, por esta razão considerado pai da Manga actual, também pode ser considerado o pai do Anime japonês, pois Astro Boy foi a primeira personagem manga a ser adoptada para animação (1963).
As influências Disney são flagrantes nesta personagem, os célebres olhos grandes (amados por uns, odiados por outros), e se repararmos nas figuras Disney da altura como o rato Mickey e Betty Boop por exemplo, as semelhanças ao nível da técnica de desenho estão todas lá. Mas Tezuka somou outras características, ainda que muito leves na altura, como os traços e linhas de velocidade que são apanágio da BD japonesa. Hoje em dia ainda é considerada uma série de culto da Manga, e que continua a vender, embora esteja vocacionada para um público mais infantil são os adultos que mais compram Astro Boy, precisamente por ser uma personagem histórica. Como é lógico Astro Boy ficou “datado” há vários anos como série de ficção científica, mas eu penso que os ensinamentos básicos do chamado “edu-manga” para um público mais infanto/juvenil estão todos lá: camaradagem, superação da rejeição, bondade, e lealdade, entre outras características deste tipo de Manga. Foram editados entre 1952 e 1958 os 23 volumes da série original pela editora japonesa Kodansha. Este autor japonês faleceu em 1989, deixando para além de Astro Boy obras como “Kimba, the White Lion” e “Princess Knight”
A ASA iniciou o seu ciclo de edições de Manga japonesa com este clássico e pretendendo a edição de três volumes para este ano. Estas edições da ASA são baseadas em publicações preparadas para o “ocidente” com a inclusão de páginas explicativas, em que o próprio Tezuka se desenha a ele próprio. O próximo sairá em Agosto, sendo “substituído” daí para a frente, e também numa razão de edição mensal por Dragon Ball, outro dos grandes clássicos da Manga mas este um pouco mais actual.

- O rapaz Planta (Vol.1)
- Sua Alteza Deadcross (Vol.2)

Astro Boy foi criado por um cientista, à semelhança, e como substituição, do seu filho que tinha perecido num acidente. Os primeiros tempos correram bem, mas acabou por ser rejeitado por este, visto que não crescia. Assim acabou por ser vendido… assim começam as estórias de Astro Boy, sendo que algumas delas conseguem tocar mesmo um adulto, como “O Regimento Hotdog, ou “O Rapaz Planta”.

Astro Boy Vol.1 & Vol.2

Astro Boy is the big turning point in Japanese Comics for what is known now as Manga. The first adventure dates back to 1951. The great forerunner of this type of Comics is Osamu Tezuka and for this reason considered the father of the current Manga. Can also be the father of japanese Anime, for Astro Boy was the first Manga character to be adopted for animation (1963).
The influences are obvious in Disney characters, the famous large eyes (loved by some, hated by others), and noticed in the figures as the Disney Mickey Mouse and Betty Boop for example. The similarities in terms of technical drawing are all there. But Tezuka added other features, yet very light at that time as traces and lines of speed that are the hallmark of Japanese Manga. Today is still considered a cult series in the Manga world, and continues to sell, although it is aimed to an young audience are the adults who buy more Astro Boy precisely because it is a historical figure. Naturally Astro Boy was "dated" for several years as a science fiction series, but I think the basic teachings of edu-manga call to an audience very young are all there: camaraderie, overcoming rejection, kindness and loyalty among other characteristics of this type of Manga. This books were published between 1952 and 1958 in 23 volumes, of the original series, by Japanese publisher Kodansha. This Japanese author passed away in 1989, leaving in addition works such as “Kimba, The White Lion" and "Princess Knight”.
The portuguese publisher ASA began its cycle of issues with this classic Japanese Manga and intending to edit three volumes this year of this series. These ASA editions are based on publications prepared for the "Western" readers by including explanatory pages, where Tezuka himself appears and make several explanations about Astro Boy. The next volume will come out in August, being "replaced" by the edition of Dragon Ball, another of the great classics of Manga but a little bit more actual.

Astro Boy was created by a scientist and as a substitute to his son, who has perished in an accident. In the beginning the life of Astro Boy went well, but later was ultimately rejected by this, since it was not growing. So eventually has been sold ... so, begins the story of Astro Boy, and some of this stories can even touch an grown-up, as "The Hotdog Regiment, or" The Plant Boy ".
I waiting now the edition of 3rd volume in August.
